Privacy Policy

This policy explains what MediaForge ("we," "us," "our") collects when you use mediaforgetools.com (the "Service"), why, and the choices you have. MediaForge is operated by an individual in Canada. Our home privacy law is Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA); if you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we also honour the additional rights described under "Your rights" below.
The short version: we never open, watch, analyze, share, or train on your media. Your files exist only long enough to convert and hand back to you. We use one functional cookie to enforce free-usage limits, and — only with your consent — privacy-light analytics and advertising.
1. Your media files
When you upload a file, or give us a link for us to fetch, we process that media solely to produce the output you asked for. We do not open, listen to, watch, analyze, index, share, sell, or use your media to train anything. Media is stored only transiently:
- files you upload are deleted as soon as the conversion completes;
- converted output is deleted shortly after you download it; and
- in all cases media is removed automatically and is never kept beyond 24 hours.
We do not store the URLs you submit — not the full address, and not even the site it came from. A link is used once, to fetch the media you asked us to convert, and is not recorded.
2. Cookies we use
We use a small number of first-party cookies. We set no advertising or analytics cookies unless you consent through the banner.
qc_uid(necessary). A random, anonymous identifier that lets us remember your consent choice and apply basic abuse protection. It is not linked to your identity and is not used to track you across other websites.qc_consent(necessary). Stores your cookie choices so we don't ask again on every visit.- Advertising cookies (optional). If you consent to advertising, our advertising partner (see section 5) may set its own cookies to select ads and limit how often you see them.
You can change or withdraw consent at any time through "Cookie preferences" in the site footer, or by clearing these cookies in your browser.
3. Usage analytics
We keep first-party, aggregate analytics to understand how the Service is used. This is designed to be privacy-light:
- Page analytics record the page visited, the referring domain, an approximate country, and a device type (mobile/desktop). To count unique daily visitors without a cookie or a persistent identifier, we derive a one-way, salted, day-scoped hash that cannot be reversed to identify you and cannot be linked across different days. We do not store your IP address or your full browser user-agent.
- Product events record non-identifying facts about conversions and ads — for example that a conversion started, completed, or failed, the output format, and whether an ad slot was requested. What you converted — the file, the URL, or its source — is never recorded. These non-essential analytics events are recorded only if you consent to analytics.
4. Security and operational logs
The Service runs on Cloudflare's global network. To operate it securely, standard request information — such as your IP address, the time of the request, and basic technical metadata — is processed to deliver pages, prevent abuse, enforce rate limits, and protect against attacks. This is a normal part of running any website and rests on our legitimate interest in a secure, functioning service.
5. Advertising
MediaForge is ad-supported. If you consent to advertising, we display ads through Adsterra, a third-party advertising network. When ads are shown, Adsterra may collect information (such as cookies, device and browser data, and interaction data) to select and cap ads, in accordance with its own privacy policy. We do not share your media or your submitted links with any advertiser. If you do not consent to advertising, these partners are not loaded. 6. Legal bases for processing
Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies to you, we rely on:
- Performance of your request — to run the conversion you ask for and return the result;
- Legitimate interests — to keep the Service secure, prevent abuse, enforce usage limits, and maintain basic aggregate analytics that cannot identify you;
- Consent — for non-essential analytics events and for advertising, which you can withdraw at any time.
Under PIPEDA we process personal information with your knowledge and consent (express where required, implied for the functional and security purposes described above) and only for the purposes stated in this policy.
7. How long we keep information
- Media — as described in section 1 (deleted on conversion / after download; never beyond 24 hours).
- Aggregate, non-personal statistics — for example the total number of conversions the Service has performed — are kept indefinitely. These are counts about the service, not about any individual, and contain no identifier that could be traced back to you.
- Product event records that include an anonymous identifier are retained for up to 12 months, then deleted or reduced to the aggregate statistics above.
- Security logs — retained only as long as needed for security and abuse-prevention purposes, then discarded.
8. Who we share information with
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it except with the service providers that make MediaForge work, each acting on our behalf or under its own policy:
- Cloudflare — hosting, storage, content delivery, and security for the entire Service;
- Adsterra — advertising, only when you consent and only to the extent described in section 5.
We may also disclose information where required to comply with the law or a valid legal request, or to protect the rights, safety, or security of MediaForge, our users, or the public.
9. International transfers
MediaForge runs on infrastructure that spans multiple countries, so information may be processed outside your country, including in Canada, the United States, and elsewhere. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers. By using the Service you understand that information is handled on this global infrastructure.
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal information we hold about you; to correct it; to have it deleted; to withdraw consent; and — under the GDPR/UK GDPR — to object to or restrict certain processing and to data portability. Because we intentionally hold very little that can identify an individual (no accounts, no stored IPs, no persistent visitor id), we may be unable to locate data about a specific person, but we will help wherever we can.
To make a request, email privacy@mediaforgetools.com. You also have the right to complain to a regulator: in Canada, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner (priv.gc.ca); in the EEA or UK, your local data-protection authority.
11. Children
MediaForge is a general-audience tool and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and we will address it.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes to the Service, our providers, or the law. The date at the top shows the most recent revision; where a change is material and the law requires notice, we will provide it appropriately.
